Power Over Ethernet (POE)Power Over Ethernet (POE) Adapter SystemPart No: POE-48i5s-afi, POE-48i12s-afi The POE adapter system is available in either 12V @ 1A or 5V @ 2.4A precision regulated outputs. The devices have proprietary sensing algorithms which detect an overload or short circuit condition and shut down the supply to prevent equipment damage. The power supply unit is auto-ranging 90-264VAC 50/60Hz and has a removable AC cord for universal compatibility. The units are rated for operation at -10 to +60 deg C and up to 90% humidity, so they perform reliably in outdoor weatherproof enclosures. The 5/12V DC power plug is a standard 5.5 x 2.1mm DC power adapter. They also comply with IEEE 802.3af POE Standard Mode B. The units are sold as a 12V or 5V set (Model Numbers: POE-48i12s and POE-48i5s) or can be purchased separately. Power Over Ethernet Midspan Power Supply / Inserter Part No: POE-48iD The POE-48iD is an advanced 802.3af compliant device with Midspan Intelligent Detection. The device does not turn on power until it detects a valid POE signature from the devices attached downstream on the Ethernet cable. This protects against damage to non-compliant equipment which may be connected to the Ethernet cable. Because of this intelligent detection only an 802.3af compliant device can be powered with the POE-48iD. Because of its 48V inserter, the installer doesn’t need to worry about voltage drops due to cable length. Typically in 100MB networks the maximum allowable CAT5 cable run is about 100 meters. This is not a limitation of the POE equipment but rather a limitation of the Ethernet standards. The POE-48iD is not a proprietary unit. It will function with any equipment which is fully compliant with the IEEE 802.3af POE standards. Note: The equipment being powered must be fully 802.3af compliant in order for the power supply to be able to sense the devices signature and apply power. Power is supplied on ethernet pins 4/5 (V+) and 7/8 (GND). Power Over Ethernet Active Splitter with Isolation Part No: POE-5s-afi, POE-9s-afi, POE-12s-afi, POE-24s-afi The active POE Splitter from Pacific Wireless gives “carrier class” performance in a low cost system. With its IEEE 802.3af compatibility and advanced auto-sensing algorithm it will accept POE power from any IEEE 802.3af router or power supply. The overload and short circuit protection will shut down power immediately when a short circuit is detected without any damage to the POE system. Power (36 to 60V) is expected on ethernet pins 4/5 (V+) and 7/8 (V-) as per the IEEE 802.3af standard or pins 1,2,3,6 (Cisco Standard). Using power over Ethernet to power remote devices has several advantages including:
